With all that has been happening in the past decade here in the U.S. I have noticed that some people are not even proud to be an American. Are you proud to be an American and why?
Written by an Australian Dentist…and too good to delete….
To Kill an American
You probably missed this in the rush of news, but there was actually a report that someone in Pakistan had published in a newspaper, an offer of a reward to anyone who killed an American, any American.
So an Australian dentist wrote an editorial the following day to let everyone know what an American is . So they would know when they found one. (Good one, mate!!!!)
"An American is English or French or Italian, Irish, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian or Greek. An American may also be Canadian, Mexican, African, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Australian, Iranian, Asian or Arab or Pakistani or Afghan.
An American may also be a Comanche, Cherokee, Osage, Blackfoot, Navaho, Apache, Seminole or one of the many other tribes known as native Americans.
An American is Christian or he could be Jewish or Buddhist or Muslim. In fact, there are more Muslims in America than in Afghanistan. The only difference is that in America they are free to worship as each of them chooses.
An American is also free to believe in no religion. For that he will answer only to God, not to the government, or to armed thugs claiming to speak for the government and for God.?
An American lives in the most prosperous land in the history of the world.
The root of that prosperity can be found in the Declaration ofIndependence, which recognizes the God given right of each person to the pursuit of happiness.
An American is generous. Americans have helped out just about every other nation in the world in their time of need, never asking a thing in return.
When Afghanistan was over-run by the Soviet army 20 years ago, Americans came with arms and supplies to enable the people to win back their country!
As of the morning of September 11, Americans had given more than any other nation to the poor in Afghanistan. Americans welcome the best of everything…the best products, the best books, the best music, the best food, the best services. But they also welcome the least.
The national symbol of America, the Statue of Liberty, welcomes your tired and your poor, the wretched refuse of your teeming shores, the homeless, tempest tossed. These in fact are the people who built America.
Some of them were working in theTwin Towers the morning ofSeptember 11, 2001 earning a better life for their families. It’s been told that the World Trade Center victims were from at least 30 different countries, cultures, and first languages, including those that aided and abetted the terrorists.
So you can try to kill an American….. If you must. Hitler did. So did General Tojo, and Stalin, and Mao Tse-Tung, and other blood-thirsty tyrants in the world. But, in doing so, you would just be killing yourself. Because Americans are not a particular people from a particular place. They are the embodiment of the human spirit of freedom. Everyone who holds to that spirit, everywhere, is an American.
Sorry this is so long.
Sarah-
I guess you do not know how to read because there is a question here. Are you proud to be an American?
Socrates:
I do believe the question was are you proud to be an American and why. Since you are not an American your vote does not count, but thanks for letting us know that you are unpatriotic when it comes to your own country ; )

I am very proud to be American
My father, brother AND sister gave their life in service to this country.
I might as well have as I am 100% service connected combat vet. But as long as I have a breath, I will fight the enemies both foreign and domestic.
Hear that Obama?

There is no reason to hate us. We do more good and are more accepting than any other country.

Quit criticizing Americans for being AMERICANS and because of war and economic failure!! You bastards. I am proud to be an American, and you’re NOT! Get the f^ck out of this country.
We take and welcome you to our country like a mother would to an orphan ’cause your mother land doesn’t provide you enough to fulfill you basic needs.
You come to this country and back stab us.

WOW – I REALLY liked that! Thanks for sharing!
I AM Proud to be an American! I think that we are an awesome country!
Last week, some friends and I were at a bar singing karaoke . Anyway, there was this young lady there having a "last fling" as she was leaving on a bus in a few hours to go to Iraq with the Army.
The karaoke DJ put on the song by Lee Greenwood – "I’m Proud to be an American" There was about 30 people in the bar, most of us didn’t know each other.
We all stood in a circle with this young lady holding hands while we sang this song – basically to her. It was very touching.
She had tears in her eyes……and I did too! I gave her a big hug and told her that I was proud of her – and I didn’t even know her name. I felt very proud that moment and I still do thinking back on that recent memory.
I am proud of us as a country for a lot of other reasons too….but I wanted to share this touching story since you shared your great article! =)

I’ve always been proud. Reading an editorial from someone outside of the US recognizing our contributions and penning what is our essense gives me hope that maybe there are still those who respect us.

Yes, Americans are every where and all races.
The only sad thing is out of all the English or French or Italian, Irish, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian or Greek, Canadian, Mexican, African, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Australian, Iranian, Asian or Arab or Pakistani or Afghan then why is it that we who live in America have had only a white man as president?

Sometimes I’m embarassed at our behavior because I know were capable of doing better. It’s unfortunate that there are some who view me in a negative light because of my skin color. I like when people notice my skin color, I think it’s quite sexy, but you don’t have to treat me negatively because of it. =]

I consider it an absolute HONOR to be an American and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. The most noble country this world has ever seen even though some will continue to bash us we help out anyone in need and are willing to sacrifice so that others may have the same freedoms that we have because of the brave men and women who have served this country so bravely.

I am an Australian, and I would definitely not encourage anyone migrating to Australia, because of the rampant despotism that is manifesting here.Likewise,I would not
avocate anyone emigrating to America, given the level of
tyranny manifesting there. The demolition of the Twin Towers
complex and the missile attack on the Pentagon was a planned operation. As was the demolition of a Government
building in Colorado six years before. The latter resulted in the
Compatriots Act,and the former, was orchestrated to justify all
anti-terrorism laws that followed.Who would want to an American,in a country where 700.000law-abiding citizens,
whose only crime was to object to invasion of Iraq, and violations of civil liberties, are not permitted to travel anywhere
in their own country by air,and are on a no-go list at all airports.Plus some law-abiding citizens are having their
licence renewals rejected for similar reasons. In Australia the
majority of law-abiding citizens have been disarmed,in
violation of the 1688 Bill Of Rights, which is the same as the
violations of the 2nd Amendment in America. Are you aware
that Australia is going to be the sanctuary for the Elite in
America, and other countries,in the event of Nuclear War,
particularly in the Northern Hemisphere? The political party
hacks have provided their own fall out shelter under Parliament House, which can accommodate 500 people for
five years.
