I started day trading stocks since 1995. I started with about ,000 and grew it to over 0,000 until the dot.com bomb hit in the year 2000. I ended up losing almost all of it. I started to try it again and I started with ,000 and grew it to over ,000 only to lose almost all of it again. I have got reduced hours at work since April so I decided to try again with only ,000 and at this point have made it grow to ,000. I use margin which is borrowed money and buy the most risky stocks available. I live with my mom and I told her that I feel this is Full-Time work but she feels I am expected to work at a 9-5 job regardless. I never told about how much I gained or lost. Does it sound like my stock picking skills are weak or is it like I feel more like a Full-Time job? If you were me would you continue to pick stocks on my own like I do and try to work also or shouldn’t I pick stocks at all?

What would happen if all I did all day was bet on the Direxion Triple funds like FAS and FAZ (financials triple long/short)? What happens if I make 1000% in a year because of how easy it is today. heck it was a no brainer today to buy FAS at 2-2:30pm EST today and that was around under 8.50 per share then. It closed today at 9.90 which was over 10% in over an hour time! Not only that, but I would put a stop loss at 9.10 area under the support of 9.16 and look for more gains tomorrow and not sell at the end of the day.

As a Canadian, am I aloud to keep buying and selling US Stocks?
If not, there are great double yield ETF day trading stocks here in Canada

If I have a Canadian Dollars account, is it aloud and do I pay for a US Exchange fee of some sort?
If I have a USD account, do I pay fees for deposits and withdrawals to the trading accounts?

Who do I trust with my money? ETFC (E-Trade) seems very hard to trust as their stock has gotten beaten down so badly as they were losing way before the economic collapse of October/Nov 2008. Should I trust them if the economy even crashes more?

TD Waterhouse? Are they good?

Right now I trade with Scotia, but I can only trade intermediate/longterm which I do not want to. I want to be able to buy at 2pm and sell at 3:55 type deal where I am not able to do that now.

I am only 16 and don’t have a dime to my name. For economics class I am currently taking, I must do research on the stock market and the different strategies used by investors. One strategy I don’t really understand is day trading. What is it and how does it work? How much money is needed or recommended? Do you make lots of little day trading? What are good day trading stocks? What do investors look for when choosing day trading stocks? Is day trading safe or dangerous? I want to learn day-trading but it’s intimidating. I think there are a lot of sites that claim to make it easy for you that are actually scams.

Can someone kindly give me the needed steps to learn day-trading stocks to a complete beginner? I would rather not take classes as I’m a bit short on cash, and no, I’m not looking to get rich off of day-trading! A tiny extra income is all I want.
