So the Federal Reserve Banks response to the bailout defeat is to “loan” more money at interest to banks?

That stupid bank has got to be out of its’ mind. What is our govt doing keeping this hideous piece of crap?
Under one new step, the Fed will boost the amount of 84-day cash loans available to U.S. banks. The Fed is increasing the amount to billion, up from the current billion starting on Oct. 6. Banks bid on a slice of the loans at an auction.
That move will triple the supply of 84-day loans to 5 billion, from billion, the Fed said.
Meanwhile, the Fed will continue to make billion worth of shorter, 28-day loans available to banks.
All told, the total amount of cash loans — 84-day and 28-day — available to banks will double to 0 billion from 0 billion, the Fed said.
Moreover, the Fed made an extra 0 billion available to other central banks. That boosted to 0 billion the total amount available to the central bank through currency “swap” arrangements, where dollars are traded for their currencies. That total is up from 0 billion previously being made available through such arrangements.

Yes. And thank goodness central banks around the world are doing what they can. Unfortunately, it isn’t that effective because the Fed can only make loans to shore up reserves. They can’t shore up the credit market by buying distressed securities as the sovereign wealth fund of $700 billion was set up to do. But its all we have. The irony is that Republicans to this day think that Roosevelt brought in socialism. But he was responding to the worst financial crisis in history. Seems that Republicans prefer to repeat that again since they are dead set against using knowledge gained since the depression to avoid a new one. You get your choice: a little socialism now, or massive socialism later. But then again, you guys made your choice today already.
