Online Stock Trading Question?!?!?

 Powered by Max Banner Ads

Ok, first off, I am turning 18 real soon, so in my state, that is the legal age for stock trading with all major online trading company’s. I plan on funding my account with about 1,000 dollars to start with (I’m still young). I plan on trading maybe 5 times a month or whenever I need to (not a day-trader, more like a week-trader), so what online trading service is right for me? I like the reviews of Ameritrade, but then again, I’ve seen good reviews and good prices for Zecco trading and also Scottrade. Which should I use?

The reason they all exist is that they all meet different needs. You should evaluate the ENTIRE fee structure and see what applies to you. Some have minimum monthly fees or monthly account charges. ALso, which provides you with the best tools for your needs? I do not need things like research or S&P reports from a broker, but you might care about that. YOU might care about charting. You might care about margin rules or option qualification standards.

I use Schwab. Their commission is a little higher, but they offer great support by phone. They also don’t nail you with a lot of other little fees like some places do,

Unless you are a hyperactive trader, a buck ot two per trade isn’t going to make a difference in your results. Make sure you get the place with the service you need.

    For comparison purposes:

    Sharebuilder’s real-time online trading commission is $9.95.

E-trade’s standard online trading commission is $12.99.

I agree with Scottrade. They have Trade Ideas as well as no account minimums. Stay away from Etrade - I got burned with their $40 per quarter fee. Scottrade also has storefronts which is convenient as well.
