allow me to quote her
"Ummmm Ask an Aussie a Brit, A kiwi, a german and a canadian… would they trade what they have for what you guys have and they will tell you to take a long walk off a short pier….
There is NO perfect system … and all of us foreigners may b!tch and whine about what we have… BUT NO WAY IN HELL would we trade it for your health system…"
But isnt that what they do every day when they get on planes to come to the US for health care because they were told they were going to die where they were?
Well #1 was a dullard. anyone that can think?
Yes #2 many broke people do go to mexico for cheap face lifts. See, that isnt life threatening. Do you know that most heart attack patients from canada are sent to the US for surgery because they cant do it there?

jenny, if you have a job making more than minimum wage, you can afford health care. If you are broke you get free health care already its called medicaide
fizzy there have been HUNDREDS of high profile people in the news that come to the US for health care. Hell thousands of canadians do every month.
and future, the only reason they die laughing is because they are waiting for a bypass operation.
I dont care about affordable. or efficient. ID rather spend 5 times as much and get care today than save and be dead.
sam, that may pass for debate in the 6th grade education circles you inhabit, but rest assured that in the real adult world, people just laugh at you
alexis according to the CBO, the estimates are 9 million americans that want health care and cant afford it. Oddly you must talk to every one of them. twice as oddly they ask you about stds. Isnt that interesting. the 9 million that support obama all have stds. Wow whoda thunk.

Joe in texas 10th March 2010
I lived in Canada for over 30 years before moving to Texas a dozen years ago.
Last month my wife was complaining of a painfull knee. After a couple of weeks I insisted she se a Doctor. She called an Orthopedic Surgeon and had an appointment in 2 days. The surgeon sent her for an MRI and she had that 3 days later. The surgeon told her she hard torn cartiledge and would need arthroscopic surgery which he sceduled for the next week.
My wife was talking to her sister who still lives in Canada and she told her it would take two years.
So I looked up the statistics kept by the Province of Nova Scotia and Dalhousie University Medical school
The wait to see an orthopedic surgeon is 1 year
the wait to get an MRI is 4 months
the wait for arthroscopic knee surgery is 1 year.
So what takes two weeks in America takes over 2 years in Canada.
My wife’s knee is fixed and her pain is GONE.
She would be suffering until 2012 if she lived in Canada.
Canadians just don’t know how much their health care really sucks!

I’ve never got on a plane to recieve healthcare in the USA, and i wouldn’t need to the World Health Org. rates my healthcare system a lot higher than that of the USA, why would i go to america to recieve an inferior service. For all i care you yanks can keep your system and we will keep ours.
Btw when i call my doctors surgery at 8am i WILL get an appointment that very same day…
can you explain the meaning of this it makes no sense in ENGLISH. quote gissim0 ‘Well #1 was a dullard. anyone that can think?’
randomly putting words together isn’t how you construct sentences, is american education as poor as it’s health service?.
Bev-B 10th March 2010
All I know is, we dont have waiting lines, If I call the office at 8 am I will see the doctor that day. Those countries cannot say that because their system is exhausted by the amount of needy people. I pay for it, I like it, and that is it.
how_would_I_know 10th March 2010
Good for them.
The US has the highest rated health care system in the world where it matters.. saving lives.
If they’re happy with people dying that don’t need to, that’s their business.. not ours.
Number 6 10th March 2010
she’s right
also do you know how many americans cross over into canada and mexico for "crap socialised" health care?
ll_jenny_ll here 10th March 2010
errrrr Bev darling … If I call our doctor’s surgery at 8 … I get the answering machine… they don’t open till 8:45.
Now My doctor isn’t at the surgery everyday .. but If i need to see another doctor… I can also get in on the same day .. maybe NOT straight away… but within a matter of hours .. depending what lurgy is going around the township.
HAVE you been here Bev? Have you heard first hand stories?.. I’ve heard many first hand stories from the USA… scarey sh!t if you’re not rich or wealthy enough to afford insurrance.
LOL and yes you can quote me… and you can move this question to any other category where you will find those I mentioned… just too get a wider guage…..
EDIT…oh my ….attacking people over stds … I betcha conservatives also have their fair share of stds.. ME THINKS you’re becoming a little frazzled… stooping to that level.

That’s funny you’re calling other people stupid when you believe people from those countries go to the US for care. How self diluted are Americans? You’ll just make up anything to "prove" your point won’t you?
EDIT: FYI – Joe in Texas – your big supporter lies as much as you do. His story about his "wife" has been perfected over many many postings. It used to be "someone I know" but wife is much more knee jerking.
Anyone who believes someone would fly to the US for helathcare is either lying or a delusional moron. Why don’t you explain the burden Americans put on the Canadian system trying to mooch free healthcare because they can’t afford it in the US and no one cares if they die. A LOT more Americans come to Canada than if any Canadians ever go to the US. They steal healthcare all the time.
EDIT: How_Would_I_Know – appropriate name. You should know the US is ranked 42nd for lifespan, behind every country with Universal Healthcare. Again I ask, why do Americans just make stuff up and talk about it as if it is the truth just because they don’t want to / can’t handle being wrong? Is that why the US is falling apart? Everyone’s got their heads in the sand?
future 10th March 2010
EVERY Canadian or European I know DIES LAUGHING when told their healthcare is bad, or that they would for some reason go to the US for healthcare (and I know many!)

This question was bound to make NHS recipients come out swinging, especially if this is all they know. I am not wealthy yet have always managed to work and obtain group coverage for the family. It has always worked out well, reasonable deductibles and good care. The worst part about obama and co.’s plans are the power to control our care and lives. The reality is, we are going to compete with illegals for care (who will be granted amnesty forthwith) and like the census, healthcare will be in the hands of this administration. Lots of excuses are made for dems not focusing on unemployment. This massive power grab is THEIR priority not ours.
Sam 10th March 2010
You have no idea what you are talking about.
Alexis 10th March 2010
I’m an Aussie, and there’s no way I would trade our health care systems. Not only can I get free/affordable treatment and examinations, but so can those who are worse off than me. I answer in the womens health section mainly, and nearly every day I answer questions from women in the US who dont have health cover – either cant afford it, or are too young etc. These girls put off and off going to the doctor and make themselves 10 times more sick, simply because they cant afford it. I would pay like you do if I had to, but our system works just fine, and noone I know would want to trade.
Annie 10th March 2010
I would like to know where you get the idea that people come to the US for health care.
The Australian medical system isn’t perfect but at least people can afford to see a doctor and get the medication they need, surgery to save their lives, and still have money in their bank accounts without belonging to any private medical insurance companies.
The US should study how other countries deal with healthcare, they may learn something…..
Elizabeth 10th March 2010
The majority of the developed world has national/universal health care, except of course the USA.
The USA is the only country I know of where it’s citizens have to sell there home to cover medical expenses or go into bankruptcy because they have no medical insurance or their insurance refuses to pay for common ailments.
That does not happen here in Australia.
It sounds like you’ve been watching too much of the O’Reilly Factor, Hannity and Fox News in general. I watch Fox, on cable here in Australia, occasionally for a laugh. Is that where you get your so called "facts"? Sadly, facts and Fox is an oxymoron.
Why is a country that likes to boast, to anyone who’ll listen, that they are innovative and forward thinking so against any type of change? As far as I understand some US medical insurance doesn’t even cover you over state borders.
