  • October 2007 update This month was really pretty uneventful, except for the stock market taking a dip. One Response to “Books: Whats the difference between day trading, e trading, and investing in the stock market?”

  • Kim k says:

Investing usually refers to long term investments. Daytrading is when you don’t hold stocks over night, you’re in and out in the same day for the most part. E Trading is just electronic trading so it’s when you do it yourself rather than having a portfolio with a broker.
It’s really a rough time to get into the market on your own right now. Ten years ago you couldn’t go wrong but these days you need much more capital to make a profit. I’ve been daytrading for ten years and you have to aknowledge to yourself that all it is is gambling. And you don’t gamble with money you can’t afford to lose. I had an unexpected $10,000 bonus in ‘97 that I opened an account with and have done well but I’m telling you, you would have a hard time making money with a small investment like that these days.
    good luck
