Investing/trading takes time to learn. If you just buy something because you heard it’s good… or you have a "feeling"… you’re not investing… you’re gambling…. the result (statistically) will be poor.
Also;
Investing/trading currencies is just about the worst thing you can do without taking months to learn the basics. Like penny stocks… it’s no place for an amateur.
Forex.com has a minimum deposit of $500 which can then nbe used to trade currencies, however if you have never done so before, i strongly suggest opening up a practice account and doing a dry run first before you put your money at risk. This is about the only thing you can do since to open an account and trade options you would need a significant amount more of capital.
Honestly though, unless this financial aid was given to you as a scholarship which doesn’t need to be paid back, or as an interest free loan, the best thing you can do is pay the loan off.
Good Luck!
How about spending it on something that could add to your resume.
Like starting your own business as a sideline, something that can create a revenue for life.

currencies are good since they provide leverage, options are also good since you can invest only a small amount and make money. you can also invest in stocks. but it takes time to learn how to trade. some brokers I can recommend which have low costs and good platforms are zecco, options house ($2.95 flat rate for stocks) and trade king. you can also check out my stock trading tutorial at http://www.cheapeststocktradingstrategies.com/
enjoy!
