It’s remarkable how arrogant the fan base of a team with zero Stanley Cups, no Hall of Fame players, and two homoerotic Swedish twins that seem physically afraid of the playoffs can act. It’s literally mind-boggling! These days, when they’re not too busy demanding trades on local radio shows or reminiscing about that year they almost signed Wayne Gretzky, you can usually find Canucks fans preaching about how hosting Jarome Iginla and the Canadian Olympic team will finally establish their city as a genuine hockey town (sort of like how marrying Lamar Odom made Khloe Kardashian a real celebrity – legitimacy by association).
Next time you see a suspected pyramid schemer in the corner of a trendy wine bar sporting a 0 hair cut, 0 suit, and emanating a distinct air of scumbag from his Drakkar Noir-soaked pores – go ahead and ask him about Kevin Bieksa, because odds are he’s a Vancouver Canucks fan and doesn’t want to cry himself to sleep again before throwing out obscene predictions about the Norris Trophy.

Interesting. I have never heard a Canucks fan reminiscing about the whole Gretzky fiasco. And, if your city was about to hold the last Olympics that NHL players will be in….you’d be pretty excited about it too. The city of Vancouver and it’s surroundings have nearly nothing to cheer about except the Canucks. Our high school students are falling into gangs and getting killed. Last year two kids at a school in Abbotsford, BC were found murdered and tortured, dumped in their car. They were 17 years old. Now that we have a team that actually has a shot at its first cup, we are very excited. What kind of fan doesn’t brag about their team if it’s a decent one?
May I ask what the hell brought this out?

They like hockey I was in Vancouver during playoff time downtown a few years ago. Stupid school said tickets were too much money! So we didn’t get to go. I’m not a fan of the Canucks. The team needs to get back to those Naslund days with Bert and Morrison that was a good line!

But seriously, you’re right. The Canucks haven’t brought glory to the fine city of Vancouver. But history shows that the Millionaires did bring the glory home in the old days before the NHL was born. So, you would do better to say that Vancouverites are voicing frustration over the lack of the only thing that matters in hockey – the Stanley Cup.
I see and hear the same things where I live and its never pleasant. Denial is an art form that can never attain beauty. But some make it downright uglier than it really is.
Sorry for drifting off there, got too much happening at the moment. Uh, yeah, don’t pick on them, being fans of a team that hasn’t brought home a Stanley Cup is punishment enough.

and im glad to, big cities deserve big teams
